Timeline for Posting Study Abroad Grades

JWU Study Abroad must receive the official, printed transcripts by certified mail from the host university in order to process any credits earned abroad that are not delivered by JWU faculty.  It typically takes 3-5 months for Study Abroad to receive the official documents and then process them through JWU Student Academic Services.

If you are planning on starting graduate school after your study abroad program, and you participated in courses not delivered by JWU faculty, you are advised to postpone your graduate program start date a minimum of one full term after your return from Study Abroad.  Please talk with your Study Abroad Advisor as some partners will take a full semester to get the international transcripts delivered.  You may need to wait five months before starting graduate level courses or sharing a completed transcript with a potential employer.

JWU will apply credits obtained from an exchange experience with the official transcript from the partner institution. Students must request their host institution send the official transcript to the following address:

JWU Global Office
c/o JWU Study Abroad
8 Abbott Park Place
Providence, Rhode Island

Your electronic transcript needs to be sent directly to JWU securely via the portal service your host institution uses. The JWU Registrar cannot accept documentation from the student directly as a PDF or otherwise. You, as the student, must request the transcript be shared and sent directly to JWU Transfer Credit/Registrar’s office, so they receive the security statement and notification. There is an option in portals for how a student wants the information/transcript shared. The transcript must be shared directly to the following contact:
